Accordionist Frank Moravcik has led a popular Cleveland-Style polka band for 30 years. He performs genuine roots music with an accent on Slovenian, german, Polish and Czech favorites. He often appears with Linda Hochevar, who provides a folksy button-box counterpoint to Frank’s classic piano accordion. Frank’s mother Marcella led her own orchestra and performed with Mary Bass, Kenny’s sister. She taught him to read and write music as he learned the accordion. As a teen he played local polka spots with his sister Elaine on the drums. The Cleveland Slovenian sound was his preferred style, but his Polish numbers attracted attention and he formed his first band, The Royal Tones. Frank Yankovic was impressed by Frank’s versatility and invited him to appear alongside him from time to time, especially during the Polka King’s final years.

Frank organized his current band in 1995 and soon enjoyed a busy schedule. Polka fans in the Netherlands even invited him to festivals. He was also active on the music scene in Cleveland’s Czech community.

Frank hosted several polka radio shows and released five albums, including one where he played all the instruments but the drums. He has been a long-time volunteer with the Polka Hall of Fame.
