Frank Mauer played lead accordion in legendary Cleveland-Style Polka bands. His career
started in Cleveland in 1950 with the Kenny Bass orchestra, teaming with Dick Sodja
as Kenny's accordion duo. In 1954, he joined Al Tercek, where he was the accordionist
for 40 years. The Tercek band was known for polka music but often was the back-up
band for rising popular music stars. Frank and the Tercek band played for Elvis Presley
and Bobby Vinton, among others, at dances hosted by disc jockey Bill Randle in tne
early years of rock-and-roll. Frank can be heard on recordings with Kenny Bass band
and Al Tercek.
