Don is one of Cleveland-style's virtuoso accordionists. The Kansas City native won
First Place in the virtuoso category of the American Accordionists Association National
Championship in New York City in 1958. Don has been a bandleader since the 1950s,
and has five polka albums and one accordion serenade CD. He organized and taught
the Kansas button box club, starting in the 1970s. He formed the St. John's Tamburitza
and Folk Dance group, and was the director for 35 years. He has a Don Lipovac Booster
Club with 500 fans. Don was inducted into the Ironworld Polka Hall of Fame in Minnesota,
in 1977 and the Tamburitza Hall of Fame in 1992.
