Gary Seibert was the Polka Power in Northern California, especially the Sacramento area, for the past three decades. Gary was an accordionist and bandleader with his Polka Power band. He spread Cleveland-style music on the West Coast, based on his native Cleveland, by teaching more than 50 students to play the button accordion. He was the director of the Northern California Button Box Club and started the Sacramento Polka Boosters Club. He also taught his children to play musical instruments and included them in his band. Gary wrote and recorded original polkas and waltzes such as Velvet waltz and Sugarbabies polka. He was working on an album at the time of his death. His family completed the project, and recently released the album, "This Side of Heaven." His wife Phyllis and children Gina, Donna, and Mark will attend the program to accept the Award..
Gary Seibert, who passed away in January, at age 68, in Northern California, was selected by the Board of Trustees for the Lifetime honor.
